Guide
Start here if this all feels like a lot.
There are three related things with similar names. You do not need all of them on day one. This page walks through what each one is, what to ignore, and the exact clicks to go from “I just signed up” to “we wrote a scene.”
The one sentence
Write where your group already gathers. Remember everything in Lorebound.
Discord is the room you already sit in. Lorebound is the notebook that keeps characters, worlds, scenes, and canon. Felix is the helpful person in the Discord room who can tap that notebook — without photocopying the whole conversation.
The three pieces
| Thing | Where it lives | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Lorebound | lorebound.online | Your account, characters, world bible, scenes, canon, events, and books. This is where the story lives. |
| Felix (the bot) | Inside a Discord server | Slash commands, scene cards, canon proposals, and notifications. Not a second Lorebound. |
| Felix dashboard | felixthebot.com | Server settings for Felix modules (Lorebound, roleplay, FFXIV, Pokémon, and so on). |
You can use Lorebound with no Discord at all. Connect Discord only when your group already writes there and you want Felix to help.
What Felix will never do
- Copy an entire Discord channel or thread into Lorebound.
- Invent a recap of chat with AI.
- Show private threads on the Lorebound Discord panel.
- Replace the Lorebound website. Characters, worlds, and books stay on Lorebound.
If you want a Discord message in Lorebound, you choose that one message on purpose (right-click → a Lorebound action). Nothing is scraped in the background.
Who should do which parts
If you only want to write: do Part 1, then skip to Part 6 after someone else has linked the server.
If you own the Discord server or the Lorebound community: do the parts in order. Budget about 20 quiet minutes for the first setup. After that, writers only need a Discord account connected.
Part 1 — Make a Lorebound account
- Open lorebound.online/signup.
- Create an account with email, or sign in with Discord or Google if those buttons are shown.
- You land on a page titled I want to… You can pick a starting point, or go to your desk.
Signing up with Discord for Lorebound login is not the same as connecting Discord later for Felix. Login gets you into the website. Connections tells Felix which Discord person you are. You may do both; they are different buttons.
Part 2 — Your first hour (no Discord required)
Do these in whatever order feels natural. Many people start with a character.
Create a character
- Go to Characters → new.
- Give them a name and a short hook — one sentence another writer could answer.
- Save. That character is now yours. You can flesh out the sheet later.
Create a world (optional, but useful)
- Go to Worlds → new.
- Name the place and give it a feeling. This becomes the World Bible the group shares.
Start a community
A community is the group: rules, members, scenes, events. A world is the setting. You can attach a world when you create the community.
- Go to Communities → new.
- You become the owner. You can invite people after it exists.
Inside a community, the left-hand sections are Overview, Story, Play, Community, and (if you manage it) Manage. Discord lives under Community → Discord. Felix setup lives under Manage → Integrations.
Part 3 — Connect your Discord account
This is for you, the writer. Every person who wants Felix commands to know who they are should do this once.
- On Lorebound, open Settings → Connections.
- Click Connect Discord. Discord will ask to share two things: identify (who you are: username, avatar, user ID) and guilds (which servers you belong to). It does not ask for your email here, and it cannot read your messages.
- Approve. You should see your Discord name and avatar on the Connections page.
If Discord says the account is already taken, that Discord user is linked to a different Lorebound login. Disconnect there first, or use the Lorebound account that already owns it.
Part 4 — Put Felix in the Discord server
Someone with Manage Server (or the server owner) has to invite the bot. Regular members cannot do this step.
- Open the Felix dashboard and log in with Discord, or use the invite button on that site.
- Alternatively, on Lorebound go to your community → Manage → Integrations → step 2, Add Felix to this server.
- Pick the Discord server. Discord will show a permission list. Accept it. You should see Felix in the member list, often offline for a moment, then online.
Felix already does other things (roleplay proxy, FFXIV tools, Pokémon, and so on). You can ignore those modules. Lorebound only needs Felix present in the server.
Part 5 — Link the community to that server
This is the owner/manager job. It tells Lorebound “this Discord server is thiscommunity,” and tells Felix where to post.
Turn on Developer Mode (once, on Discord)
You will paste channel IDs. Discord hides those until Developer Mode is on.
- In the Discord app: User Settings (gear) → Advanced → Developer Mode → on.
- Right-click a channel → Copy Channel ID. Same for roles: right-click the role → Copy Role ID.
The four Integration steps
On Lorebound: open the community → Manage → Integrations.
- Select server. Only servers you can manage appear. Choose the one Felix is in. If the list is empty, reconnect Discord under Settings → Connections.
- Connect Felix. Status starts as PENDING. Use Add Felix if the bot is missing. Then continue to map channels.
- Map channels. For each kind of post, tick Enable and paste a channel ID. You do not have to enable every row.
- Community announcements → a welcome or news channel
- New scenes → where roleplay threads should appear
- Remembered changes → canon
- Lore updates → worldbuilding
- Events → calendar or events
- Character introductions → character board
- Staff reports → a private staff channel (never auto-imported)
Mode is usually “Post notifications only.” Choose “Create Discord threads” or both if you want a public thread when a scene starts.
Tick “Allow selected imports later” on channels where people may right-click a message to save it. Still never automatic.
- Choose behavior. Suggested first-time set: notifications, create threads for scenes, selected imports, commands, canon proposals. Leave role matching off until you have copied Discord role IDs into the optional fields.
After you save, open Community → Discord. Linked public threads will show here as cards (name, scene, activity) — not the message text.
The Integrations page also shows a Community ID. Keep it for the dashboard step. It is a long id, not the pretty URL name.
Part 6 — Turn Lorebound on in the Felix dashboard
- Go to felixthebot.com and log in with the same Discord account that can manage the server.
- Select the Discord server from the server list (not the home marketing page).
- Open the Lorebound module card.
- Turn Enable on. If Community ID is empty, paste the id from Lorebound Integrations. Optional: map Discord roles (member, character approved, and so on). Save.
After a successful save (or after Lorebound finishes linking the guild), Integrations should show Felix status CONNECTED. If it stays PENDING, wait a minute, confirm both sides have the shared setup, and save the dashboard module again.
Part 7 — First commands in Discord
In the linked server, type / and look for commands that start with lorebound, character, scene, remember, lore, event, or book.
Do this as a smoke test, in order:
/lorebound connect— should say whether your Discord is linked, which community this server is, and which character you write as. If it says you are not connected, use the button to open Settings → Connections and finish Part 3./lorebound help— the short version of this page./character create— a small form (name, pronouns, hook), or create the character on the website instead, then/character switch./character card— portrait, hook, current story, looking-for, recent public scene, and a link tolorebound.online/c/…./journal add— write a private, community, or public entry for the active character./journal latestreturns the newest entry you are allowed to see./scene open— title (and optional location). Lorebound creates the scene. If thread creation is on, Felix opens a public Discord thread with a card and “Open in Lorebound.”/scene listthen/scene turn— whose turn it is, according to Lorebound, not according to who spoke last in Discord.
Saving one Discord message on purpose
- Right-click a message (or long-press on mobile) → Apps.
- Choose Send to Lorebound scene, Propose as canon, Save as lore note, Add to character journal, Create writing prompt, or Report to moderators.
- For a scene, pick which Lorebound scene. Only that message is sent.
If Discord says selected imports are not enabled, a manager needs to turn that on in Integrations (behavior and/or the channel’s import checkbox).
Everyday writing — a simple loop
- People write in Discord, the way they already do.
- When a scene starts for real, someone runs
/scene openor starts it on Lorebound. Felix posts a card; it does not paste the chat history. - When something should become canon, someone runs
/remember proposeor right-clicks a message → Propose as canon. It is a proposal until a lorekeeper accepts it on Lorebound. - Look things up with
/lore search. What you can see follows Lorebound visibility. Drafts stay drafts. - Events: create on Lorebound or with
/event, then RSVP from Discord. The event record lives on Lorebound. - Books:
/book progressshares counts. An excerpt posts only if you type it yourself. Felix will not dump a manuscript. - When the scene is done,
/scene completewith an optional recap you wrote. That recap is remembered. Felix will not invent one.

Finding your way around the Felix dashboard
- The home page at felixthebot.com is marketing plus login. After you log in, pick a server from the list.
- Each card is a module. Lorebound is the one for this product. Roleplay is Felix’s older character-proxy tools — useful, but a different system than Lorebound sheets.
- Commands are listed under the site’s Commands page, including a Lorebound section.
- You do not configure Lorebound channel maps on the dashboard. Those live on Lorebound Integrations.
If something feels broken
- “Connect Discord under Settings first.” Part 3 is not done for that Discord user.
- No community linked to this server. Part 5 is not finished, or a different Discord server was selected.
- Status stays PENDING. Invite Felix, enable the Lorebound module on the dashboard, confirm Community ID, save again.
- No servers in the picker. You need Manage Server or ownership. Reconnect Discord if the list is stale.
- Slash commands missing. Felix is not in the server, or commands were not deployed. Wait a few minutes; Discord is sometimes slow to show new commands.
- Imports disabled. Enable selected imports on Integrations and on the channel row.
- “Pick a scene and writing character.” Create or switch a character, then choose a scene when importing.
- Private thread not on Lorebound. That is intentional. Link only public threads, or import one message.
Tiny glossary
- Community — the group on Lorebound (members, rules, play).
- World / World Bible — the setting and canon entries.
- Scene — a stretch of play with a turn order and recap, stored on Lorebound.
- Canon — a remembered change (a wound, a promise, a secret) attached to a character or the world. Proposed first, accepted later.
- Discord ID — Discord’s long number for a channel, role, or user. Copy it with Developer Mode on.
- Felix for Lorebound — the Lorebound features inside Felix. Felix is not renamed; it is not “the Lorebound bot.”
You can stop here
If you only wanted to write: account, character, connect Discord, /lorebound connect, then write. Let an owner handle Integrations and the dashboard.
Sample worlds if you want to look before you build: Saltcairn and The Waking Bough. Feature list: /features.
