The only honest way into the Archive: stone steps the tide still claims.
At high water the lowest twenty steps vanish. At low water you can read old street names cut into the risers — names the upper maps no longer print. Rook Halden lights the wall lanterns each dusk. Some hang below the waterline. Those are not for the living. This is where The Third Bell was written: a cracked tablet, a lantern, and a true name still unsaid.
